I did not begin this work as a teacher.
I began as someone who was struggling.
In 2010, despite external success, I found myself anxious, disconnected, and unsure of who I was beneath the roles I had built.
What followed was not a sudden breakthrough, but years of apprenticeship in the Amazon and Andes of Peru sitting quietly beside my teachers, learning discipline, structure, and responsibility within the Lamista and Chavín traditions.
Ancient Ceremonies was not created to offer experiences.
It was created to hold this work in the same way it was taught to me.

In 2010, I reached a point where external success no longer felt meaningful.
On paper, everything looked stable. Internally, it was not.
Anxiety, restlessness, and a sense of disconnection had become constant companions.
I did not travel to Peru looking to start a retreat center.
I went because I needed help.
What I encountered in the Andes was not spectacle or mysticism.
It was structure. Discipline. Silence. Responsibility.
I was not offered comfort.
I was shown where I was avoiding my own life.
That beginning led to years of apprenticeship within the Chavín and Lamista tradition, not weekend trainings, but sustained study under the guidance of my teachers.
Ancient Ceremonies grew from that foundation.
Not from inspiration but from responsibility.
Ancient Ceremonies was not created as a business idea.
It emerged slowly after years of apprenticeship, when people began asking whether this work could be held properly outside of Peru.
The answer was not immediate.
It required patience, preparation, and the willingness to say no when conditions were not right.
What we offer today exists for one reason:
To hold these traditions in a way that honors how they were kept for generations and taught to us.
Small groups. Clear structure. No spectacle.
Details of the retreat format can be found here.
Not to create experiences, but to create the right conditions for responsibility and clarity to emerge.

Ancient Ceremonies is led by Rodolfo and Grace De Angeli.
Grace is not an assistant to the work, she is part of its foundation.
Her own healing journey unfolded within the same traditions we now hold. That experience informs how the retreat is structured, supported, and lived.
During the week, Grace oversees the practical rhythm of the retreat, the meals, the environment, and the emotional steadiness of the space.
Nothing dramatic.
Nothing performative.
Just presence, attention, and care where it is needed.
This work is not held by one person.
It is held by a household that lives it.
Rodolfo leads each ceremony directly.
He was trained within the Chavín lineage under the guidance of Maestro Don Howard Lawler, and within the Lamista lineage under Maestro Don Rober Acho Jarama.
He continues to practice within the Chavín structure in which he was taught.
The role of the ceremony leader is not to perform.
It is to maintain order, rhythm, and clarity within the process.
Small group size allows for direct attention when needed, while preserving the integrity of the traditional format.
The focus remains on the work itself, not on the person leading it.

The retreat does not begin on the day you arrive.
Preparation begins beforehand.
In the weeks leading up to the retreat, you receive clear guidance to help you arrive steady, physically, mentally, and practically prepared.
This preparation is simple, structured, and intentional.
After the retreat, the work continues.
For three weeks, follow-up conversations provide space to integrate what has unfolded, not to analyze it, but to ground it.
Integration is where responsibility becomes action.
What was seen must be lived.
This continuity ensures the work does not remain an experience, but becomes part of daily life.
Participation begins with a screening process.
Not everyone is accepted.
This ensures the retreat remains appropriate and steady for all involved.
Small group size allows for close awareness throughout the week.
The retreat location is within proximity to medical facilities should support ever be required.
Safety is not separate from the work.
It is part of how the work is held.

This work was not created by us.
It was learned.
