Guiding Spirits | Lineage and Teachers of Ancient Ceremonies

Discover the People guiding your transformation In Australia and Peru.

There would be no Ancient Ceremonies without my extraordinary teachers and mentors.

They stood by my side as I healed and rediscovered myself again. They took me in like a son and, over years of apprenticeship, shared with me the sacred wisdom of their ancestors.

Meet my teachers and mentors and become part of our growing family at Ancient Ceremonies.

Your healing, transformation, and well-being have been, and will always be, our highest priorities, and together, we are here to support you every step of the way, wherever you join us.

-Rodolfo De Angeli, Ancient Ceremonies Founder

Rodolfo De Angeli

Founder & Maestro of Shamanic Programs at Ancient Ceremonies Australia and Peru

In 2010, Rodolfo stood on the edge of life, at a crossroads between despair and survival. He had everything material success could offer, but inside, he was broken.

After years of battling depression, anxiety, and an overwhelming sense of disconnection, he reached a point where he no longer wanted to go on. Until that moment, he had tried it all. Psychiatry, therapy, medication, yoga, breathwork, yet nothing worked long-term, making him feel he had reached the end of the road.

Then, one day he stumbled upon a spark of hope and decided to seek out coaching. It helped him gain focus on his business, acquire wealth, and achieve success. He thought he was on the right path, building his empire and living the dream. But soon, the cracks returned, realising that no amount of external success could heal the deep trauma rooted inside him. He had lost connection with himself, and nothing in the outside world could fill that void.

It was then that shamanism came into his life—almost by accident. Listening to a podcast in his car on his way to yet another meeting, he was introduced to the concept of a deeper, more meaningful journey: the inner journey. A journey that had nothing to do with success or accolades but everything to do with healing his soul.

His path took him to Peru, to the sacred practices of Peruvian curanderismo. It wasn’t an instant fix—it was a long, arduous journey that required him to leave behind the safety of what he knew and step into the unknown. His travels back and forth to Peru became a regular pilgrimage, seeking the healing he had longed for, guided by two extraordinary maestros: Maestro Don Howard Lawler and Don Rober Acho Jarama.

These men didn’t just show him the way—they became his family. They saw him at his worst, helped him rise, and eventually took him under their wings. For years, he sat beside them in ceremony, learning the ancient wisdom of the Andes and the Amazon. Under their guidance, he healed himself, and in time, they commanded him to carry the torch forward, to share this sacred work with others. It was not a choice, but a calling—one he could not ignore.

Carrying the Tradition Forward

The path of Peruvian curanderismo became the center of his life. Under Maestro Don Howard, he learned the sacred practices of the Chavín Huachuma mesa, a 3,500-year-old tradition rooted in the Andes. After years of apprenticeship and dedication, he received his blessing to carry on this work. His words, “March on, hermano,” as he initiated him, still echo in his soul, urging him to continue this journey of service.

At Ancient Ceremonies, he’s committed himself to honoring these ancient traditions. Their ceremonies are small, intimate gatherings where each participant is given the individual attention they deserve. Unlike many modernized ceremonies with large crowds, they return to the original ways, focusing on deep, personal healing. This is not about ego or status—it’s about guiding each person through their own transformation, just as he was guided.

His role is to help others find what he found—a reconnection with their true self. It’s a sacred responsibility, one he carries with humility and gratitude for the wisdom his teachers shared with him. At Ancient Ceremonies, they don’t care about titles or appearances. They care about the person who arrives before them, with all their gifts and struggles, and they honor their journey with the utmost integrity and respect.

This is why he founded Ancient Ceremonies. To offer a space where healing, growth, and transformation can happen, just as it did for him. It’s a place where the ancient ways are honored, where transparency and integrity guide everything they do, and where every participant becomes part of their family.

Don Howard Lawler

Maestro Huachumero and Founder of SpiritQuest Shamanic Sanctuary

October 3, 1947 - October 13, 2019

Maestro Don Howard Lawler was a visionary and the founder of SpiritQuest Shamanic Sanctuary, where he dedicated his life to preserving and teaching the ancient shamanic traditions of Peru.

For over 50 years, Don Howard guided thousands through the sacred practices of the Chavín Huachuma mesa, a 3,500-year-old tradition rooted in the Andes. His mastery of this ancient art, which predates the Inca civilization, became the foundation of his work—offering profound healing and spiritual transformation to those ready to explore the depths of their inner selves.

Don Howard’s approach was not just about the ceremonies; it was about creating a bridge between the ancient and modern worlds. His ability to connect deeply with both the spiritual and scientific realms made him a unique and powerful guide. His teachings centered around the belief that these ancient paths hold the key to personal healing and the awakening of higher consciousness in today’s world.

During his time in the Peruvian Amazon, Don Howard worked closely with the same indigenous communities we work with today, supporting self-sustaining health care, education, and cultural preservation. His impact extended far beyond the ceremonies—he was a true servant of humanity and Mother Earth.

Although Don Howard transitioned on October 13, 2019, his spirit and teachings continue to live on through me and everyone who's ever drank at is mesa. His words, “March on, hermano,” are a reminder to carry this sacred work forward with the same integrity, compassion, and love that he embodied.

Maestro Don Howard’s legacy remains a guiding light for Ancient Ceremonies, and his wisdom continues to inspire our work, just as it inspired my own healing journey.

Don Rober Acho Jarama

Maestro Banco Ayahuasquero, Curandero, Tabaquero, Vegetalista y Palero.

Maestro Don Rober Acho Jarama is a genuine Lamista Banco Ayahuasquero, a true master in the art of Ayahuasca Curanderismo with over 60 years of healing practice in the Lamista tradition of the upper Amazon. Initiated into Ayahuasca at just 8 years old and beginning his apprenticeship at 11, Don Rober has refined his profound knowledge and mastery of Ayahuasca for decades. His intuitive gifts, complemented by his humble and unassuming manner, have earned him recognition as a natural Maestro whose wisdom has been passed down through generations of Amazonian jungle healers.

As a true "Banco" Ayahuasquero, Don Rober has reached the highest level of mastery in Ayahuasca Shamanism, a rare achievement in today’s world. His father, uncle, and grandfather were all Bancos, and he began his apprenticeship with them, learning from the "Maestros de Maestros" (Masters of Masters). By the age of 18, after seven years of rigorous training, Don Rober began his lifelong service as a Maestro Ayahuasquero, dedicated to the healing and transformation of countless souls.

At our Ancient Ceremonies Banco Puma Sanctuary in Peru, Don Rober continues his sacred work alongside his wife, Doña Eliana, and their son, Don Carlos, who are all dedicated Curanderos. The name "Banco Puma" honors Don Rober’s lifelong commitment to mastering his craft and his unwavering service to the good of all. His extraordinary knowledge of Amazonian healing plants, his heart-centered icaros, and his deep, concentrated work make him a true curandero and guide.

My apprenticeship with Maestro Don Rober is not just an honor but a profound responsibility. I carry his sacred teachings with the understanding that this knowledge must continue to serve those in need long after he is called home. His presence at Ancient Ceremonies, Peru, is not only a testament to the authenticity of our work but also a continued blessing for all who seek deep healing through the sacred traditions of Ayahuasca Curanderismo.

Doña Eliana Acho

Maestra Ayahuasquera

Doña Eliana, the loving wife of Maestro Don Rober, joined the path of Amazonian Curanderismo later in life, but her impact in this sacred work has been nothing short of profound. For over 20 years, she has been an invaluable partner to Don Rober, assisting him in countless healing ceremonies and bringing her own unique gifts to the tradition.

A native of the San Martin region like her husband, Doña Eliana has become a deeply respected Curandera in her own right, specializing in Ayahuasca, Camalonga, Chiric Sanango, and the heart-opening plant medicine Bobinsana. Her icaros, sung with a voice often described as angelic, carry a powerful vibration of love and healing that touches the hearts of all who hear them.

Beyond her ceremonial work, Doña Eliana’s presence is a beacon of warmth, compassion, and grace. Her piercing blue eyes reflect the love she pours into every interaction, and her role in administering the flower baths after each Ayahuasca ceremony is performed with utmost care and reverence. With each icaro sung during these rituals, she weaves a deep connection between the physical and spiritual realms, helping participants to integrate their experiences with tenderness and profound understanding.

Doña Eliana’s contribution to Ancient Ceremonies Banco Puma Sanctuary in Peru is invaluable, as she continues to walk this sacred path with love, devotion, and a heart open to the healing of all.

Don Carlos Acho

Maestro Ayahuasquero

Don Carlos Acho Jarama, the son of Maestro Don Rober and Doña Eliana, carries the legacy of a truly sublime lineage of Banco Ayahuasquero Shamans and Amazonian Curanderismo. As the fourth generation in his family to walk this sacred path, Don Carlos embodies the wisdom and traditions passed down through the generations, blending it with his own unique journey.

He began his apprenticeship at 14, working closely with his father, but life led him away from the path at 22 when he married and welcomed his first child. After nearly a decade away from curanderismo, the call of the medicine brought Don Carlos back to his roots. With his return, he fully immersed himself in the teacher-healer plants of the Amazon, reigniting his passion and dedication to the sacred work of his ancestors.

Today, Don Carlos masterfully prepares Ayahuasca, drawing on intimate knowledge of the Amazonian teacher-healer plants and how they can catalyze holistic healing and expanded consciousness for participants at the Ancient Ceremonies Banco Puma Sanctuary in Peru. Alongside his parents, Don Carlos forms an extraordinary triumvirate in and out of the ceremonies, where the Acho family's collective strength and wisdom far exceed the sum of its parts.

As Maestro Don Rober's sole apprentice, I share a brotherhood with Don Carlos that goes way beyond the ceremonial space. Together, we are committed to carrying forward Maestro Don Rober’s legacy when, in a hundred years, the elders are called back home. It will be our shared responsibility to uphold the memory, wisdom, and sacred traditions passed down by Maestro Rober and guide future generations at the Ancient Ceremonies Banco Puma Sanctuary in Peru.
