Terms and Conditions, Waiver of Liability, and Assumption of Risk

Welcome to Ancient Ceremonies. Our programs are designed with your personal growth, healing, and education in mind. Participating in our shamanic healing sessions, retreats, or pilgrimages means you're ready for a transformative experience. Before you embark on this journey with us, please read the following terms and conditions carefully. By registering, you acknowledge you've understood and agreed to these terms.

CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE

This document and the confidential Program materials supplied by Ancient Ceremonies are intended only for the Participant. They must not be copied, published, distributed, recorded, or used for a commercial purpose without the prior written consent of Ancient Ceremonies. Nothing in this notice prevents a Participant from discussing their own experience, obtaining medical or legal advice, making a complaint, reporting a safety concern, contacting a regulator or emergency service, or making a disclosure required or protected by law.

DEFINITIONS

"We," "Us," "Our" refers to Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages.

"Participant," "You," "Your" refers to anyone registering for or attending our programs.

"Programs" include any session, retreat, or pilgrimage offered by us.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

1. I hereby declare on my word of honor that the sole reason I am registering for this shamanic healing session, retreat or pilgrimage is for my personal holistic healing, cultivation of higher consciousness and/or trans-cultural education.

2. I agree not to use Ancient Ceremonies’ confidential information, protected Program materials, non-public operational information, staff or contractor contact information, or original written content to reproduce or establish a substantially copied commercial retreat, ceremony, or competing program. This does not prevent me from using general knowledge or skills, discussing my own experience, or using information that is public, independently known, or lawfully obtained from another source.

3. I understand that a "retreat" involves seclusion and isolation from urban, social, and mechanical influences which might be distracting or disruptive and which could pose risk to my welfare, concentration, and realization of fullest benefit as well as that of others. I, therefore, agree to remain at the retreat site for the duration of the event except for outings and activities incorporated in the program agenda or for bona fide personal emergencies.

4. When attending healing sessions, retreats or pilgrimages with Ancient Ceremonies, I agree to arrive to the retreat as per the time stated of the event I am attending. This is to assure a timely start of the service you signed up for as per plan.

5. I recognize that the event for which I am enrolling provides privileged access to original program design and a unique assemblage of special people. I acknowledge that much time, physical and creative energy, and capital has been invested to create these opportunities for my edification, spiritual stimulation, holistic healing, and personal growth.

6. I agree not to copy, duplicate, record, publish, distribute, plagiarize, or commercially exploit Program agendas, manuals, recordings, itineraries, written materials, original content, or other protected materials produced by Ancient Ceremonies, whether presented orally, in writing, online, or through facilitated activities, without the express written consent of Rodolfo De Angeli, dba Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages. I will not record a ceremony, private session, or other Participant without express permission. I will not disclose another Participant’s identity, health information, private disclosures, or personal ceremonial experience without that person’s express consent.

7. During the Program and for 12 months after it ends, I will not use information or relationships obtained through Ancient Ceremonies to knowingly solicit or recruit for a competing retreat or ceremony any guide, teacher, instructor, shaman, curandero, interpreter, cook, contractor, service provider, technical specialist, aide, or helper first introduced to me through Ancient Ceremonies. This does not prohibit a pre-existing relationship, general public advertising not directed at such a person, or contact initiated independently by that person. The confidentiality and intellectual property obligations in clauses 2 and 6 continue for as long as the relevant information remains confidential or the relevant intellectual property remains protected.

8. I will not engage in romantic or sexual relationships with faculty, staff, or volunteers of Ancient Ceremonies, or with other guests while at any Ancient Ceremonies programs, retreats & Pilgrimages. I recognize that such activity conflicts with the spirit and intention of my participation, compromises dietary preparation, and imposes an ethical dilemma in the context of the retreat focus. I recognize that such behavior may be disruptive and disturbing to the program, staff, and other participants. I understand that this provision does not apply to platonic friendships wherein no ulterior motives exist by either party.

9. I understand and agree that I may be immediately suspended or dismissed from the workshop or retreat if I engage in seriously dishonest, unsafe, threatening, or disruptive behaviour; seriously breach this agreement; or materially fail to disclose or misrepresent relevant medical, psychological, medication, or substance-use information after being specifically asked, and continued participation would present a safety risk. Serious misconduct includes sexual harassment or unwanted sexual contact; violence or threats; theft; bringing a weapon to the retreat; bringing or using alcohol, recreational drugs, or other psychoactive substances contrary to the Program’s disclosed safety rules; recording a ceremony, private session, or another Participant without permission; deliberately leaving the retreat site contrary to a reasonable safety instruction; or serious or persistent disruption of the Program or other Participants. Where dismissal results from serious misconduct or material non-disclosure or misrepresentation, no refund or other compensation will be provided, subject to any right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

10. Considering the heightened energetic nature of serious work with entheogenic plant medicines, the need for focused preparation and integration before and after such work, and the potential risks of ‘crossing energy’ with other practitioners whose energy, intention and methods may not be compatible with our values, standards and experience, I hereby agree that I will not participate in similar plant healing retreats or ceremonies elsewhere or consume other entheogenic plants from 30 days before to 30 days after the Ancient Ceremonies retreat for which I am applying. This is to assure a clean holistic reset beforehand, and appropriate integration time afterward to fully realize the beneficial results of this work.

11. I understand that this contract is intended to avoid conflicts of interest, misunderstandings, gross misconduct, and hidden agendas or motives, and to preserve harmony, equity, and continuity among Ancient Ceremonies staff, employees, and recipients of its services.

MEDIA CONSENT AND RELEASE

1. Ancient Ceremonies may record CONNECT Calls, onboarding calls, and integration calls after telling you that the call will be recorded and obtaining your consent. These recordings and any transcripts are used for screening, preparation, participant safety, administration, and follow-up. They will not be published or used for marketing without separate express consent.

2. If the call does not result in a booking, the CONNECT or onboarding call recording and transcript will be securely deleted within 14 days after the call. If you book and attend a retreat, the recording and transcript will be securely deleted within 28 days after the retreat ends. If you book but later cancel or do not attend, they will be securely deleted within 21 days after the booking ends. This applies to Zoom cloud recordings, downloaded copies, transcripts, and backups under Ancient Ceremonies’ control. Information may be retained for longer only where required by law or reasonably necessary for an actual safety incident, complaint, insurance matter, or legal claim, in which case access will be restricted and the information will be deleted when no longer required.

3. If you participate in a podcast interview, provide a testimonial, or separately agree to be photographed, filmed, or recorded for public use, you grant

Ancient Ceremonies permission to use the agreed likeness, image, voice, written testimonial, and related content for education, marketing, and promotion.

This includes, but is not limited to:

- Educating others about Ancient Ceremonies’ programs, practices, and mission.

- Sharing insights and teachings from the events to inspire or guide potential participants.

- Marketing materials, including social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube), websites, brochures, advertisements, and other digital or print media.

4. You understand and agree that:

- Your participation is voluntary, and you will not receive compensation for the use of your likeness, content, or testimonials.

- Ancient Ceremonies retains the right to edit, modify, or publish the content as needed for its intended purpose.

- You may decline public photography, filming, recording, or testimonial use by providing written notice to Ancient Ceremonies before the relevant session or event.

5. Ancient Ceremonies agrees to handle all content with respect and integrity, ensuring that:

- No sensitive or private information, such as home addresses, phone numbers, medical details, or other personally identifiable information, will be shared publicly without explicit prior consent.

- No misleading, harmful, or inappropriate use of your likeness or testimonials will occur.

6. If you wish to withdraw your consent for future public use after content has been published, you must provide written notice to Ancient Ceremonies. Ancient Ceremonies will make reasonable efforts to remove content under its control and cease future use, but complete removal may not be feasible for material already printed, downloaded, shared, archived, or controlled by third parties.

7. Public-use permission continues until withdrawn in writing, subject to clause 6. The deletion periods in clause 2 apply to CONNECT, onboarding, and integration call recordings and transcripts and take priority over this public-use provision.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, remedy, or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted, or modified, including under the Australian Consumer Law.

Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages and its associates will, in all cases, make every professional effort to ensure the safety and welfare of its clients and deliver services as indicated in its informational literature.

However, we cannot assume responsibility or liability for discomfort, hardship, natural or human hazards, theft, or losses of any kind due to circumstances beyond our control. You agree to accept the possible discomforts, inconveniences, hazards, and risks inherent in adventure travel to primitive destinations and participate at your own risk, as indicated by your signature below.

In consideration of being accepted for the event in which I wish to participate under the auspices of Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages, its agents, assigns, employees, officers, licensees and successors in interests, I hereby agree to the following:

I have been informed and am aware that adventure travel can be dangerous and includes certain risks and dangers, including, but not limited to, the hazards of traveling by train, bus, automobile, van, four-wheel-drive vehicles, three wheel motokars, motorcycles, boats, canoes, horseback, on foot or by other unconventional means, injury, illness, or accident in remote places without medical facilities, dangers of wild or domestic animals, insects and arachnids, toxic plants, forces of nature, civil unrest and travel by air, bus, train, or any other conveyance, extreme weather conditions, physical exertion for which I might not be prepared, and evacuation difficulties, should I be injured or disabled.

I ACCEPT the inherent risks of the journey, retreat, or workshop, and acknowledge that the enjoyment of adventure and pursuit of knowledge and experience beyond the normal safety of home and work is in part the reason for my participation in this event.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I accept responsibility for loss, injury, or damage arising from the inherent risks disclosed in these terms, my voluntary decisions, my failure to follow reasonable safety instructions, or information I materially failed to disclose or misrepresented. I release Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages from liability to that extent. This release does not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

I understand that medical treatment, evacuation, transport, communications, and other emergency services may be limited or delayed, particularly in remote locations. I accept the inherent risks arising from those limitations where they are outside Ancient Ceremonies’ reasonable control. This does not exclude responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

For a Peruvian retreat, I must obtain travel and medical insurance for the full period of my travel, including cover for emergency medical treatment, medical evacuation, and repatriation. If I travel internationally to attend an Australian retreat, I must obtain travel and medical insurance for that trip. I am responsible for checking the policy’s destination, activity, medical-condition, and other exclusions with my insurer and for providing evidence of cover to Ancient Ceremonies if requested. Ancient Ceremonies does not arrange or guarantee insurance cover.

I EXPRESSLY ACKNOWLEDGE and AGREE that I am entering into this agreement of my own free will, that I have had the opportunity to ask questions and seek independent medical or legal advice, and that no particular outcome or risk-free experience has been promised.

To the extent permitted by law, Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages and its associates are not responsible for theft or for the acts, omissions, negligence, or itinerary changes of genuinely independent suppliers or service providers outside Ancient Ceremonies’ reasonable control.

Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages and its associates are not responsible for changes in travel plans due to "Acts of God", strikes, civil strife, acts of war, or changes in common carrier schedules such as airlines, trains, buses, etc.

Where reasonably necessary for safety, participant welfare, legal compliance, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control, Ancient Ceremonies may alter the itinerary or arrangements. We will provide as much notice as reasonably practicable and seek to provide a suitable alternative. Transportation services may be furnished by independent contractors who are not agents or employees of Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages.

I accept responsibility for evaluating my fitness for this retreat, journey, and associated work, obtaining appropriate medical advice, and disclosing relevant medical, psychological, medication, mobility, and accessibility information before booking and before attending. I shall bear any additional expense should I be physically unable to participate in any or all portions, except to the extent the expense was caused by a breach of a duty Ancient Ceremonies cannot lawfully exclude.

The retreat venue includes steps, narrow access points, and bathrooms that are not wheelchair accessible. Participants must tell Ancient Ceremonies before booking about mobility or access requirements. Ancient Ceremonies will consider whether a reasonable and safe arrangement is practicable. Where the venue or essential nature of the Program cannot safely meet a participant’s requirements, Ancient Ceremonies may decline the booking and refund any Program Fees already paid.

I hereby confirm that I have been informed of the possible risks of ingesting traditional plant medicines and preparations, and that my responses to questions concerning my medication, drug, and health history are complete, true and accurate.

Ancient Ceremonies does not provide medical advice and will not instruct me to stop, reduce, increase, or otherwise change prescribed medication. I must discuss any proposed medication change with my treating medical practitioner. Ancient Ceremonies may require written medical clearance and may refuse or discontinue participation where appropriate clearance is not provided or participation would be unsafe.

We reserve the right to modify accommodations, itineraries, and services as dictated or required by circumstances beyond our control.

VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION AND ASSUMPTION OF RESPONSIBILITY

I understand and acknowledge that my participation in all aspects of the retreat, including but not limited to ceremonial practices, traditional plant medicine work, plant baths, topical applications, and other physical or energetic treatments, is entirely voluntary.

I further understand and agree that:

- I am solely responsible for my decision to participate in any ceremony, treatment, or practice, including the consumption, application, or use of any plant, preparation, or substance.

- I accept responsibility for the inherent physical, psychological, emotional, or spiritual effects that may arise from my voluntary participation, including but not limited to adverse reactions, discomfort, distress, allergic reactions, sensitivities, or unforeseen outcomes.

- I acknowledge that plant medicines and traditional practices may be administered through various methods, including ingestion, topical application, bathing, or other traditional means, and I voluntarily accept all associated risks.

- Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages does not guarantee any specific outcome, result, or benefit from participation.

- To the fullest extent permitted by law, I accept the inherent risks of reactions to plant medicines, treatments, and practices, whether expected or unexpected. This does not exclude any duty or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

SAFETY, MEDICAL, AND PSYCHOLOGICAL STABILITY

I understand and agree that participation in Ancient Ceremonies programs requires emotional, psychological, and physical stability appropriate to the Program. Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages may suspend, remove, or dismiss a participant where it reasonably believes that continued participation would present a material risk to the participant, another person, or the safe operation of the retreat, including where the participant is experiencing, or appears to be experiencing, any of the following:

A psychotic episode, acute mental health crisis, break from reality, or behaviour suggesting compromised psychological stability, whether or not such conditions were previously disclosed.

Medical conditions or reactions, including but not limited to cardiovascular, neurological, psychiatric, or medication-related complications, which make it unsafe for the participant to continue in the program.

Behaviour that is unsafe to themselves or others, including erratic, unpredictable, disruptive, or destabilising conduct arising at any point before or during participation.

Material failure to disclose, misrepresentation, or omission regarding relevant psychological, medical, substance-use, or medication history during the CONNECT Call, application questionnaire, confirmation email, or any communication before or during the retreat, after the participant was specifically asked for that information.

Non-compliance with lawful and reasonable safety, dietary, preparation, or emergency instructions provided by Ancient Ceremonies facilitators, maestros, or staff. Any change to prescribed medication must be discussed with and directed by the participant’s treating medical practitioner.

Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages may act immediately and without prior warning where this is reasonably necessary for safety. Where reasonably practicable, Ancient Ceremonies will tell the participant the safety concern or contractual basis for the decision.

I understand that such removal is done to protect my safety, the safety of others, and the integrity of the retreat environment. I further understand and agree that:

- No refund or compensation shall be issued where dismissal results from serious misconduct or the participant’s material non-disclosure, omission, or misrepresentation of relevant health, psychological, medication, or substance-use information after being specifically asked, subject to any right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

- Any additional costs arising from early departure, including transportation, supervision, medical care, accommodation, evacuation, or accompaniment, are my sole financial responsibility.

- To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages is not responsible for a psychological, emotional, or medical condition arising from an inherent risk, a pre-existing condition, or information the participant materially failed to disclose or misrepresented.

- I accept that the facilitators’ immediate safety decision about whether I may continue participating is final for the purpose of the retreat, and dismissal may occur without prior warning where reasonably necessary for my wellbeing or the wellbeing of the group.

EXACERBATION OF PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS

I understand that participation may cause the re-emergence, activation, exacerbation, or worsening of a pre-existing physical, psychological, or psychiatric condition, whether the condition was previously disclosed or undisclosed. I acknowledge that participation in shamanic healing practices and plant medicine ceremonies may interact with underlying conditions in unpredictable ways, and I accept the inherent risks arising from my personal medical or psychological history.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ancient Ceremonies is not responsible for adverse effects, reactions, challenges, or instability arising from an inherent risk or my personal health background, including trauma history, medication history, mental health diagnoses, or unresolved emotional conditions. This does not exclude responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.

RIGHT TO REVOKE ACCEPTANCE

I understand and agree that acceptance into any Ancient Ceremonies program, retreat, or pilgrimage is conditional and may be revoked at any time—before arrival or during participation—if new information arises that suggests it may be unsafe, inappropriate, or unsuitable for me to continue.

This includes, but is not limited to:

- New medical or psychological disclosures

- Newly reported medications or substance use

- Behaviour suggesting instability or contraindication

- Information learned during onboarding or observation

- Any factor that, in the facilitators’ judgment, compromises safety

Ancient Ceremonies may deny or discontinue participation where it reasonably believes the disclosed information creates a material risk that cannot safely be managed. If Ancient Ceremonies revokes acceptance before arrival because of relevant information that I disclosed honestly and promptly, any Program Fees I paid will be refunded. If participation is denied or discontinued because I materially failed to disclose or misrepresented relevant information after being specifically asked, no refund will be provided, subject to any right that cannot lawfully be excluded. Any costs associated with early departure, travel changes, accommodation, or medical care are my responsibility, except to the extent caused by a legal responsibility of Ancient Ceremonies that cannot be excluded.

I acknowledge that this policy exists to protect my wellbeing, the safety of other participants, and the integrity of the work.

REFUND POLICY AND TERMS

I understand and agree that a non-refundable/non-transferable deposit of USD $500.00 (for Peruvian retreats) is required for each event I will attend within 7 days of acceptance to reserve my retreat space(s) with Ancient Ceremonies. This deposit is not refundable or transferable except where these terms expressly provide otherwise or where required by law.

I understand that my space is reserved when my registration deposit or full payment is received by Ancient Ceremonies, and that acceptance of my application does not guarantee my space until payment is received.

I understand and agree that the full balance of the registration payment is due 35 days (for non-Australian retreats) before the starting date for the Ancient Ceremonies events for which I am registering.

I understand and agree that there are no refunds for cancellations received less than 35 days before the starting date for Peruvian retreats. For Australian retreats, cancellations received at least 35 calendar days before the starting date, including exactly 35 days before, are entitled to a full refund. Cancellations received fewer than 35 calendar days before the starting date—that is, 34 days or fewer before the starting date—are not refundable. Cancellation notice must be provided in writing to [email protected]. However, all reservations canceled before their arrival date may be credited toward a future stay. Reservations may be rescheduled one time without incurring additional fees. Any subsequent date changes will incur a fee of $250 (USD/AUD).

REFUND PROCESSING TIME

I understand and agree that in cases where a refund is applicable under these terms, any approved refund may require up to 28 days to process. This allows for administrative handling, payment processor timelines, and financial reconciliation. Refunds will be issued only after all applicable fees, adjustments, and outstanding balances have been accounted for.

I understand that if the initial deposit is not completed into a full booking within 6 months of it being made, it will be forfeited.

Any cancellation, postponement, or rescheduling caused by COVID restrictions will be handled under the Retreat Cancellation by Organiser section below.

RETREAT CANCELLATION BY ORGANISER

If Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages is required to cancel, postpone, or reschedule a retreat because it cannot proceed safely due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control—including fire, natural disaster, government restriction, civil emergency, unsafe or unavailable venue or accommodation, serious facilitator illness, or another unforeseen event—all Program Fees paid will be credited in full toward a rescheduled or future equivalent retreat, subject to any right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

The Participant may apply the credit to the first rescheduled retreat or, if that date is unsuitable, to a later available equivalent retreat agreed with Ancient Ceremonies. An organiser-initiated reschedule does not count as the Participant’s one free date change and does not incur a rescheduling fee. The credit is non-transferable to another person and is not redeemable for cash, subject to any right that cannot lawfully be excluded. If the Participant chooses a materially different or more expensive Program, the Participant must pay the price difference.

If Ancient Ceremonies chooses to cancel a retreat for reasons within its reasonable control and does not provide an equivalent replacement retreat, the Participant may choose a full refund of the affected Program Fees or a credit toward another retreat.

Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages shall not be responsible for any additional costs incurred by participants, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, meals, or other personal expenses arising from such cancellation or rescheduling.

I understand and agree that there are no discounts or refunds for late arrival or early departure from the scheduled events for which I am registering, regardless of the reason.

I understand and agree that my registration deposit and payment apply only to my personal enrollment in Ancient Ceremonies events and are not transferable to another person.

I further agree that serious failure to adhere to the participation and safety rules established in this agreement, or to lawful and reasonable safety or emergency directions given by the program leader or an Ancient Ceremonies representative, may result in expulsion without refund, subject to any right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

REGISTRATION DECLARATION

By submitting the application screening questionnaire I give my word of honor that all responses are true and accurate and I have not misled the reviewers about my intention, health condition or medication status by misstatement or omission.

I agree to follow lawful and reasonable health and safety instructions provided by the maestros and facilitators of Ancient Ceremonies. Ancient Ceremonies does not provide medical advice and will not instruct me to stop or change prescribed medication. I will discuss any proposed medication change with my treating medical practitioner and obtain medical clearance if requested.

I agree to accept and abide by all terms and stipulations set forth in this Terms of Participation Agreement.

ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

Acceptance of your retreat registration form and payment is contingent upon your signed agreement to abide by the terms of participation, acknowledge the disclosed inherent risks, provide complete and accurate information, and accept responsibility to the fullest extent permitted by law for your voluntary participation in scheduled and unscheduled activities.

I accept responsibility for my voluntary decisions and the inherent risks resulting from my participation in, consumption, application, or use of natural foods, plants, plant medicines, or traditional treatments in the course of the retreat for which I am enrolling, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release Ancient Ceremonies Retreats & Pilgrimages from liability arising from the inherent risks I have accepted, my voluntary decisions, my failure to follow reasonable safety instructions, or information I materially failed to disclose or misrepresented. This release does not apply to any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

I have carefully read, understand and do agree on my word of honor to all terms and conditions of my participation in the events described in this document, including the Terms of Participation, Waiver of Liability and Assumption of Risk, Refund Policy and Terms, and Acceptance of Terms.

I understand and agree that this document is binding from the moment I receive it and accept a space in the events for which I am registering.

I confirm that I am at least 18 years old. I fully understand the contents of this document and acknowledge that by clicking "Reserve My Spot" and making payment, I give my word of honor that I will abide by all the provisions stated herein.
