The Chavín Huachuma Mesada is a seven-day immersion held in the Otways of Victoria in Australia.
From the moment you arrive, the pace shifts. The environment is quiet. The structure is deliberate. Nothing is rushed, and nothing is accidental.
The ceremonial sequence follows the traditional Chavín structure and includes preparation before arrival and structured integration after departure.
In truth, the work rarely begins on the first day of the retreat. For many, it begins the moment they commit when something shifts internally, and the decision is made.
And it does not end on the final day. What is carried home continues to unfold through action, responsibility, and leadership in daily life.
The week follows a deliberate ceremonial arc. Each element has its place and purpose within the traditional Chavín structure.
If this feels aligned, you’re welcome to begin the application process.
Upcoming Retreat - September 27 - October 3, 2026
Otways, Victoria, Australia

Over the course of the week, you will participate in three ceremonial days held within the traditional Chavín structure.
Each ceremony follows the traditional structure as it was taught to us.
There is space between ceremonies. Time to rest. Time to reflect. Time to let the work settle.
Nothing is forced. Nothing is rushed.
“I joined Ancient Ceremonies to experience the ancient practice of consciousness of the Chavín people. What I experienced went far beyond anything I could have imagined.” — Paul R.

Between the first two and the last ceremonial days, you will be guided through a traditional Rapéh ceremony.
Its role is simple and supportive, grounding the body, clearing the mind, and preparing the space for the final stage of the week.
Like everything else within the retreat, it is held in the way it was practiced for generations and passed down to us.

Between ceremonial days, we gather to give voice to what is unfolding.
Speaking the experience often reveals what was not fully seen in the moment. What felt unclear begins to take shape. What was internal becomes understood.
As one person shares, something may unlock in another. A sentence heard at the right time can bring clarity where there was confusion.
These circles are part of the integration itself, not an addition to the work, but a continuation of it.

Preparation begins before you arrive.
In the days leading up to the retreat, you receive clear guidance so you can enter the work steady and ready.
After the retreat, the process continues through three weeks of follow-up calls.
This is where the experience becomes embodied, not as a story, but as action in daily life.

During ceremonial days, guided walks form part of the process.
Movement in nature allows the work to continue in a different way through pace, presence, and the surrounding environment.
On rest days, time outdoors is available privately if desired.

Six nights of accommodation are provided in private and shared rooms.
The setting is comfortable and simple, designed to support focus rather than distraction.
Small group size allows the space to remain personal, steady, and contained.

Meals are prepared to support the ceremonial process.
Participants receive daily nourishing meals aligned with the preparation process.
Dietary requirements are accommodated within the structure of the retreat.

The retreat is led by Rodolfo De Angeli, trained within the Chavín lineage by Maestro Huachumero Don Howard Lawler, and supported by his wife, Grace.
The work is held in the same way it was taught, steady, structured, and without modification.

In 2015, a documentary was filmed during ceremony in Peru, prior to the passing of Don Howard Lawler.
It remains the only filmed documentation of this work.
The footage is shared for educational context.
